Right! There is an important question “How to write the cover letter?”

Somebody don’t understand why they need to write cover letter when they finished the CV. What is the difference between the CV and the Cover letter?

  • Your CV is a summary about you and focus on your highlight points during the life.

  • A Cover Letter is summary your vacancy application and tell more about why you want to apply the vacancy?

When you want to write your cover letter, according to my experience:

Dear Sir/Madam (If you know who is he/she, you can write the specific name, if you don’t know, you just can write this one)

  1. The first paragraph should be short and clearly. You need to introduce yourself and explain why you write this cover letter and what is type of job you want to apply?

For example: My name is Yiman Wei, I want to become Media producer/I would like to consider the position of “Media Producer”.

2. The second paragraph, you can list why are you want to apply this job, what do you want to gain from this job? You need to list your professional skills and academic background to make sure your qualifications. (You need to read the job description carefully and the role relevant some professional skills).

For example: My major is Media and Communication, and I am good at Media Production and I have some wonderful editing skills and creative thinking

3. The third paragraph, you can state why you want to apply the company. Why you choose this company role. It is one good opportunity that you explain and then tell them about your goal and your future plan that relate to the company.

According to my experience, you should try to realise the company’s information, some students who doesn’t know where you can realise the information. You have to go to the company office’s website!!! It is very useful and accurate information. Maybe your CV will include some points relate to the company, but the CV not allow you to expand in your CV.

4. The fourth paragraph, you can state that why you are good for this role and why are you interested in the role and why you want to get this vacancy. (You can list some volunteer experience or work experience that relate to the role.)

5. You can list some special information about your available for this role interview. You can express that you are happy to meet with the job employee. (If you have already working or you have learning in your university, you can say how much time and the employee will consider the booking time for your interview).

SUGGESTIONS:

  • Write full sentence and pay attention to your grammar and vocabulary mistakes.

  • When you finish the cover letter, you try to read it again and check your cover letter a couple of times, it is a good hobby.

Are you International students? Do you know how to write your CV to find a desire job in UK?

Dear everyone! My name is Yiman Wei I come form China. I have learnt Media and Communication at Coventry University two years ago. I have one session called “professional experience” on my second year.I have to try to apply work placement or internship in UK.

To be honest, I am confused very much. Firstly, I didn’t know how to apply work placement process, and didn’t know how to do at my first step. Secondly, English is not my first language. Compare to local student, I have some problems about language, visa issues, and also environment. The third one, I didn’t know how to build a good CV and cover letter to get a job in UK. There are many difference between the traditional Chinese CV and UK CV such as: format, structure.

I understand that if you want to apply work placement or internship in UK, you have to write a great CV and learn how to build a cover letter.

SO!!! How to write a CV? Not boring essay!!!

When you want to write a good CV, you need to make sure how many parts you need to write?

There are some parts that we need to list:

  • Personal profile

  • Education

  •  Work experience

  • IT knowledge

  • Other actives

  1. Personal Profile: You can list your personal special and particular points in your CV, but not list over five points.

For example: You can list your volunteer experience, internship experience, part-time job, and you can list about your award like Ielts certification, foundation certification and much more.

      2. Education: You need to list your University name and qualification, key modules.

For example:

  • Foundation at…

  • A level at…

  • Coventry University

  • Qualification: 2.1If you have not graduate for your university , you just want to apply work experience and internship, you don’t need to attached the qualification, but you need to list your key modules, and you need to summary your key modules: what is it and list some you have done in this module. Because you just write module name. The company maybe not clearly understand and they maybe don’t know what you have learn and some details, and you can use these opportunity to express your responsibility in the group work on these module .       Work experience:       You need to make sure time (day/month/year )and placement name, the role of your work, and the time that the period time you working in the work placement. And you should make clearly your responsibility in the role, what are you doing on the role and what you need to do on the company.
You need to recognise what is work experience and what is volunteer actives.
      –  Work experience: paid
       – Volunteering actives: unpaid
     IT knowledge:
If you are good some software, you can write in here.
Other actives:
